S5 to S7 migration

S5 systems were phased out more than 30 years back. S5 systems are still operational in many industries. Due to the phasing out of the S5 systems over the years, support and know-how of the systems is practically non-existent.

We provide expert services for upgrading the systems from any S5 range to the newest system in the S7 range. From making the optimized bill of material to converting the software to suit the new system and then commissioning the system, we have experience in all the possible activities.

Result: the new system is functional on an as is where is basis.

Automated Storage and Retrieval System

One of the most demanding conversion of S5 to S7 and upgrading to the S7 400 system. With practically zero downtime.

  • Up-gradation from S5-115U to S7-400 system for cranes
  • Up-gradation of S5-115U to S7-400 system for Masters which was used to co-ordinate with the Cranes
  • Revamping the wireless communication between Master and slaves
  • Communication between Master and Higher-level system

Aegis Logistics Ltd.

Conversion from S5-155H to the Siemens DCS – PCS7. The migration commissioning was done in record time of less than 2 hours since the system was controlling LPG cryogenic storage. Wiring adaptors were used to shift the inputs and outputs from the S5 to the S7 system. PCS 7 software was pre tested under simulation.

A mobile harbour crane (MHC) at VCTPL was working with the S5 slot PLC which failed. Since there was no support available for the PC based slot PLC, the MHC was initially made operational with the help of the available S5-155U in a very short time. Subsequently, the S5 PLC was updated with the S7 400 system along with the KTP1000 HMI. The operator console keyboard which had mechanical issues was transferred as Touch keys on the KTP1000 which obviates the need to change the keyboard. The MHC is fully operational with the S7-400 system

Conversion of S5 to S7 and upgrading to Servo system:

  • Up-gradation from S5-115U to S7-300 system
  • Addition of Servo drive Sinamics S110 for positioning for better accuracy of cut to length belts.
  • WinCC Flex HMI – TP1500
  • Transferring the hardware PID loops to software PID loops.
